About Ramone's

Kayla and Blayne Midthun are proud lifelong residents of Eau Claire and North High School grads who stayed close to their roots. After earning their degrees from UW–Stout, they each carved out meaningful paths—Kayla in nonprofit work with Big Brothers Big Sisters and later as Executive Director of the Chippewa Area Mentor Program, and Blayne in banking, real estate, and perhaps his most rewarding role—being a stay-at-home dad to their three kids during their early years.

The idea for Ramone’s was sparked during their 10th wedding anniversary trip to Stillwater, MN in 2015. Sitting outside Leo’s Grill & Malt Shop, enjoying a couple of classic malts, they found themselves saying, “Eau Claire needs a place like this.”

A place where families could gather. Where the ice cream was hand-dipped, the waffle cones were warm, and the atmosphere felt just a little old-fashioned—in the best kind of way.

Less than a year later, that dream became real. Ramone’s opened its doors in the spring of 2017, and from the very beginning, it’s been about more than just scoops and sundaes. It’s been about community, connection, and creating a place where everyone—locals and visitors alike—can feel right at home.
